The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the approval of the promotion of 117 judicial officers following interviews conducted between 4th and 13th August 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 18, JSC said the promotions were ratified during Commission meetings held on 11th and 15th September 2025 and took effect immediately.
“This milestone underscores the Commission’s commitment to strengthening judicial capacity by expanding both territorial and pecuniary jurisdiction of officers to manage matters of greater value and complexity,” read the statement in part.
The Commission added that the move will enhance access to justice through improved efficiency in service delivery.
JSC Announces Promotion of 117 Judges, Magistrates, and Kadhis
Additionally, it stated that the promotions recognize excellence by rewarding high-performing officers and fostering career progression across the Judiciary.
“The Judicial Service Commission congratulates all the Judicial Officers on their well-deserved promotions,” JSC added.
“These advancements reflect not only individual excellence and dedication, but also the Commission’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice and service, with integrity and excellence while being accountable to the people of Kenya.”
JSC has promoted nine judicial officers to Chief Magistrates, 67 to Senior Principal Magistrates, six to Principal Magistrates, 15 to Senior Principal Kadhis, and 20 to Principal Kadhis.
