Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has accused President William Ruto of laying the groundwork for rigging the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Sunday, February 9, during the opening of Wiper Party offices in Kilifi County, Kalonzo alleged that Ruto’s government was using the ID registration process as a tool to manipulate voter registration in certain regions ahead of the next election.

Claims of Manipulation Through ID Issuance
Kalonzo argued that the government’s push to issue IDs in specific areas was not an innocent initiative but a calculated move to influence the electoral process in Ruto’s favour.
According to the Wiper leader, this tactic was designed to increase voter numbers in certain regions while potentially sidelining others.

“We must take them back home as early as possible, and there will be no possibility of rigging the elections. They think they can register voters here and there and issue National IDs to help them with their scheme,” said Kalonzo.
He pointed to Isiolo County as an example, claiming that despite the government’s efforts, citizens were dissatisfied with the administration because of the economic hardships and high cost of living.
Further, he suggested that even those who received IDs as part of the alleged scheme would ultimately vote against Ruto.
“But those who have been given IDs will be the first to vote against them because everyone is suffering. An example is Isiolo,” Kalonzo added.
