Ruto Fires Back at Gachagua and Kalonzo

President William Ruto has hit back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

While speaking in Mandera on Tuesday, February 4, Ruto stated that Gachagua and Kalonzo do not have plans and ideas.

“Let me warn you the other people don’t have a plan, agenda, or idea. Their only plan is to divide Kenyans. If they are not talking about tribes, they are focused on religion, political kingpins, or the divide between the employed and unemployed,” Ruto said.

He added, “If you want a semblance of a competition, look for an agenda, leave divisions, it will not lead you anywhere.”

“The people of Kenya are resolved to unite so that together we can transform our nation.”

Ruto Responds after Gachagua Drops Another Bombshell

This comes after Gachagua, in a joint interview with Citizen Digital’s sister outlets on Tuesday, accused President William Ruto of linking him to the Gen-Z protests as part of a ploy to remove him from office.

“When the Gen Z uprising began, Ruto already wanted me out of his government. He summoned his people and told them I was mobilising the youth because he could not explain why he was fighting me,” Gachagua said.

“They teamed up and began accusing me of organizing and financing the protests. I did not do any of that; if anything, if those good children had requested me to be their leader, I would have happily done it.”

The former DP also opened up about why he was impeached from government, stating that it was because he disagreed with President William Ruto on many of the policies he introduced.

He further alleged that President William Ruto offered him Ksh 2 billion to resign from his position as the second in command so that he could vie for any position in future.

“The president told me to quit so that he can give me Ksh2 billion so that I can go on with my business and have security. He told me to quit so that I could vie in future, but I asked myself how the president can plan my future yet he wants me to quit,” Gachagua claimed.

Kalonzo Threatens to Take Ruto to ICC

Kalonzo, on his part, revealed that he is currently leading the process of collecting key evidence that will enable him to present a case against the government of President William Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Speaking in Kajiado County, on Sunday, February 2, Kalonzo announced that his decision to take the government to the ICC was driven by the recent surge in abductions.

”We will be taking them to the ICC, and we are gathering the necessary evidence. We cannot accept Kenya going the wrong way,” Kalonzo said.

He further revealed that the opposition would announce a new and larger coalition within the next month—one he believes will block President Ruto from securing a second term.

“I want you to know that we have strong intentions of coming together. For those who you are not seeing here, you will see them after one month when we make our announcement,” he added.

“We will form one team that will take President Ruto home in just one round.”
