National Legal Aid Service Opens 78 New Public Service Job Opportunities: How to Apply

The National Legal Aid Service (Nlas) Has Announced 78 Job Vacancies Across Its Departments, With The Application Deadline Set For August 14, 2026.

The National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) has announced 78 job vacancies across its departments. In a job advertisement published by the state agency on July 14, qualified Kenyan citizens have been invited to apply for vacancies ranging from senior management positions to legal, administrative, finance, human resources, planning, and support service roles.

According to the advertisement, positions in Grades 1, 2 and 3 will be offered on a three-year renewable contract basis, while all other positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms.

“NLAS Grades 1, 2& 3 are on a three- years basis, renewable once, while the rest are on permanent and pensionable terms,” part of the advertisement read.

NLAS has urged all interested and qualified candidates to submit their applications on or before the August 14 at 5:00 p.m.

NLAS Senior Management Positions

Among the vacancies advertised is the Director/Chief Executive Officer position, the highest-ranking role in the recruitment exercise.

Other senior positions include Senior Deputy Director, Legal Aid and Senior Deputy Director, Human Resources and Administration.

The agency is also looking to recruit Deputy Directors in Administration, ICT, Finance and Accounts, Planning, Corporate Communications, Supply Chain Management, and Internal Audit and Risk Assurance.

According to the agency, candidates applying for the senior positions should have a minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience.

Legal Aid Positions Recruitment

Most of the vacancies are concentrated in the Legal Aid and Legal Support Services Department.

NLAS is seeking to recruit nine Assistant Directors of Legal Aid, ten Senior Legal Aid Officers, ten Legal Aid Officers, and ten Legal Clerk I officers.

Additional legal clerk positions have also been advertised at different grades.

Candidates applying for legal positions are required to hold a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

The applicants must also be admitted as Advocates of the High Court of Kenya with valid practicing certificates or clearance from the Law Society of Kenya.

Vacancies in Finance, HR and Support Services

In addition to legal positions, the agency is seeking professionals in finance, planning, records management, corporate communications, human resource management, and supply chain management.

Additional openings exist for accountants, planners, records management assistants, and drivers.

Compliance Requirements

NLAS has emphasized that successful candidates must meet the requirements set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.

Candidates who receive job offers will be required to present clearance certificates from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a recognized Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), and the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) or proof of ongoing loan repayments.

The agency has also reiterated that it is an equal opportunity employer and does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process.

How to Apply

Interested applicants are required to submit a copy of their National Identity Card; certified copies of academic and professional certificates; supporting documents and testimonials; and a detailed Curriculum Vitae with three referees.

Applications must be submitted online via [email protected] and should clearly indicate the specific position applied for, along with the corresponding reference number.

However, the agency stated that hard-copy applications will not be accepted and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

In addition, any canvassing, in any form, will result in automatic disqualification of the candidate, according to the agency.
