The Wiper Party Nation Executive Council (NEC) has expelled Deputy Party Leader Farah Maalim from the party over his comments on handling of anti-Ruto protests.
According to a statement seen by The Kenya Times, the party’s leadership convened at its headquarters where the decision was made to de-whip the Dadaab Member of Parliament (MP) from all parliamentary committees, including the Speaker’s Panel.
“NEC’s decision is that the Hon Farah Maalim be de-whipped from all Committees in Parliament including the Speaker’s Panel,” read part of the statement.
“NEC also recommends expulsion from the Party to the National Delegates Convention (NDC) – the supreme organ of the party.”
Additionally, the party distanced itself from his comments, and noted that Maalim’s remarks go against its guiding principles and values.

“They go against our guiding principles and values as a party,” read the statement.
Furthermore, the party noted that Maalim along with three other members had repeatedly gone against the party’s position with the latest transgression being the voting on the Finance Bill 2024.
‘The four received invitations to attend today’s NEC meeting. They all failed to attend nor have offered their apologies. Their cases have been referred to the Party’s Disciplinary Committee.”
Details of Farah Maalim’s Controversial Statement
His dismissal comes after the growing controversy surrounding his viral remarks where he was recorded saying that he would have dealt firmly with protestors if he was the President.
He claimed that the protesters were from wealthy backgrounds and were attempting a “coup” by occupying government buildings.
“Kids of the wealthy business owner, wealthy parents and those raised from ill-gotten wealth whom 80 percent are from a single tribe were dropped off downtown and were told to occupy the parliament building and Statehouse.”
“God forbid, if I the President which God hasn’t given me, I would have slaughtered them, 5000 of them daily, serious,” said the MP.
Following the MP’s remarks, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on June 1o summoned Farah to help in the ongoing investigation into the matter.
In a statement NCIC stated that Maalim’s comments were deemed to be inciteful and could potentially lead to heightened ethnic tensions within the country.
As a result, the commission has ordered Maalim to appear at its headquarters and provide an explanation for his statements, which they have deemed unacceptable.

Additionally, in the statement, the party expressed its support for the youth led “Gen Z revolution” and reiterated its commitment to engaging with the youth, on all available platforms.
