The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a five-day traffic interruption along Mombasa Road
In a statement, the authority notified motorists who frequently use the road of the planned disruption near shell petrol station next to Hilton Garden Inn.
Additionally, the statement further explained that the Mombasa bound lanes will be most affected.
According to KeNHA, the disruption will take place from Wednesday, August 7, 2024, to Sunday, August 11, 2024.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near Shell Petrol Station, next to Hilton Garden Inn will experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa bound lanes from Wednesday August 7, 2024, to Sunday August 11, 2024,” reads part of the statement.
KenHA Issues Advisory to Motorists
KeNHA noted that the closure of the road is meant to allow for the construction of the mid span footbridge at the median between the service lane and the adjacent Mombasa bound lane.

“This is to allow for construction of mid-span footbridge foundation at the median between the service lane and the adjacent Mombasa bound lane,” the statement further reads.
Motorists have further been advised to approach the affected section with caution and follow the proposed traffic management plan as directed by police and traffic marshals on site.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.”
Past Traffic Disruptions Along Major Roads
The announcement comes weeks after the Kenya Urban Road Authority (KURA) announced traffic disruption along Thika Superhighway.
KeNHA in a statement on May 31, 2024, said that the disruption would affect part of the Superhighway at Juja High Point specifically on the Thika bound lane.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Thika Superhighway (A2) at Juja High Point will experience traffic disruption on the inner lane of Thika bound traffic,” said the authority.
According to the Authority, the disruption was also to allow the contractor on site to improve sections of the road.
“This is to allow for construction of the mid-span footbridge foundation,” the statement read in part.
