The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has warned that motorists using the Nairobi Southern Bypass should brace for temporary traffic disruptions this coming weekend.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, October 21, KeNHA Acting Director Kula Kimeli revealed that the Bypass will remain closed for 14 hours, from midnight Saturday, October 25, to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26.
KENHA to Close Southern Bypass for Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon
The Southern Bypass will be closed from Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town to facilitate the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public on the temporary closure of Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Kikuyu Town on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Midnight to Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2.00 pm,” read the notice in part.
“This is to allow for the 2025 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.”
The authority advised motorists to use Mombasa Road (A8) from Ole Sereni Interchange, through Uhuru Highway, and vice versa.
“All road users are further advised to follow the traffic signs and guidance as directed by traffic marshals and the police,” KeNHA noted.
