KQ Enhance Travel Connectivity to Minnesota Passengers
In 2022, Kenya Airways (KQ) signed a codeshare agreement with JetBlue airline, allowing Kenyans living in Minnesota to fly nonstop to Nairobi.
The move came as a boost to the carrier ahead of the summer season, when many tourists travel to Kenya for holidays.
According to Kenya Airways, the deal was to help passengers in Minnesota book their flights directly to Kenya, as well as fly out of Minnesota to board the nonstop JFK-to-Nairobi flight and collect their luggage at JKIA.
The agreement also allowed JetBlue passengers to book a through ticket to Nairobi, enabling seamless connections to the rest of KQ’s destinations.
KQ’s direct flight from New York cut the journey to 15 hours on the long-haul route, as part of efforts to revive the carrier’s fortunes. The airline had forecast its daily direct flights to the US would boost annual revenues by more than 10% in 2019 and 2020.
