The Kenya Meteorological Department has released the weather forecast for the next five days starting October 5 to October 9, 2024.
According to the weatherman, there will be showers in some areas of the country while others will have sunny intervals and cloudy conditions for the said period.
Rainfall is expected over some parts of the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the coast.
These areas include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties.
However, the rest of the country is likely to be generally sunny and dry.
The above areas will experience sunny intervals in the mornings on October 5 and October 6, 2024, while mornings of the following three days will see a chance of rain over a few places.
Afternoons in these regions are predicted to have showers and thunderstorms over few places while nights could see showers over a few places in the next five days except for the October 8 night which is expected to be partly cloudy.
Additionally, maximum temperatures in the regions are expected to be between 29°C and 32°C with lows of 08°C to 12°C.
Weather Outlook for Nairobi and Surrounding Counties
Residents of Nairobi have had rains in the past days with cloudy, cold mornings.
The highlands east of the Rift Valley including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka and Nairobi Counties are expected to have sunny intervals and rain on some days.
The morning of October 5, 2024, is predicted to have cloudy conditions breaking into sunny intervals in the above areas.
At the same time, mornings of October 6, October 7, and October 8 have a chance of rain over a few areas while October 9 morning will have sunny intervals.
As for afternoons, these counties are expected to have showers over few places except October 9 which will have sunny intervals.
Residents should expect a chance of showers at night for the next five days except for October 8 which will be partly cloudy.
Maximum temperate will range from 27°C to 28°C with lows of 04°C to 09°C
Northwestern Regions
Turkana and Samburu Counties are expected to have sunny mornings and afternoons for the next five days and partly cloudy nights.
However, maximum temperatures in these regions are predicted to range from 36°C to 38°C while the minimum 11°C 15°C.

Northeastern Kenya
The north-eastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo are forecast to have sunny mornings for the next five days.
They will also have sunny afternoons except for October 8 which is expected to have showers over a few areas.
However, nights will be partly cloudy and the maximum temperatures in these counties will range from 37°C to 38°C with lows of 16°C to 17°C.
South-eastern Lowlands
Additionally, southeastern including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties are predicted to have a chance of showers on October 5, 2024, in the morning and sunny mornings for the remaining four days.
The same conditions apply for afternoons while nights will be cloudy for the next five days.
On temperature, these counties will have highs of 28°C to 31°C and lows of 09°C to 14°C.

Coast Region
Areas at the coast of Kenya, including Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties are forecast to have showers over a few places in the mornings and afternoons of October 5 to October 9, 2024.
Nights will be partly cloudy except for October 9 which is forecast to have a chance of showers over a few places.
The maximum temperatures in these counties are forecast to range from 31°C to 32°with lows 22°C to 24°C.
