As different parts of Nairobi experience rainfall, the Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has released the weather outlook for the period starting September 28 to October 2, 2024.
According to the forecast, rainfall is expected over some parts of the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.
However, the rest of the country is likely to remain generally dry.
Between September 28, 2024, and October 2, 2024, the highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley will have sunny intervals in the morning.
On September 29 and October 1, there will be chances of rainfall in a few areas in the morning while September 30 will see rain over a few places in the morning.
Areas in this region include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties.
Over the next five days, the above areas are forecasted to have showers and thunderstorms over several places in the afternoon and nights showers over a few places.
The maximum temperatures in the said period will be 30°C to 32°C with lows of between 09°C to 13°C.
Weather Forecast for Nairobi and Surrounding Counties
Over the next five days, highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties, are expected to have cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals.
Afternoons are forecasted to have showers over few places with October 2,2024 having a chance of showers over few places.
According to the Kenya Met, nights of September 28 and September 29 are expected to have a chance of showers over few places while rest of the nights will be partly cloudy.
Maximum temperatures in these counties will range from 28°C to 31°C with lows of 05°C to 08°C.

Samburu and Turkana Counties
Samburu and Turkana Counties will have sunny intervals in the morning on September 28, 2024, with rains expected over a few places for the next three days. October 2, 2024, morning has a chance of rainfall over a few places.
However, afternoons are expected to experience showers and thunderstorms over few places except for October 2, 2024, which will have sunny intervals in the afternoon.
For the nights, there are chances of showers over a few places for the next four days except for October 2, 2024, which will have partly cloudy nights.
Maximum temperatures of between 36°C to 37°C and lows of 11°C to 14°C are expected over the named areas.
North Eastern Regions
The north-eastern regions, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will have sunny intervals in the morning and afternoon for the next five days.
Nonetheless, nights will be partly cloudy except for September 30, which will have a chance of showers over few places.
Maximum temperatures in these areas will be 36°C to 38°C with lows of 15°C to 16°C.

South Eastern Areas
The south-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties are expected to have sunny intervals on the mornings of September 28 to September 30, 2024. The other two mornings will be cloudy breaking into sunny intervals.
Afternoons of September 28, September 30, and October 2, 2024 will have sunny intervals while September 29 and October 1 will have a chance of showers over few places.
Nights in these areas are predicted to be partly cloudy and the maximum temperature will be 31°C to 32°C with lows of 10°C to 13°C
Coastal Regions
Counties in the coastal region, including Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties, are predicted to have sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoons for the next five days.
Nights will be partly cloudy and the maximum temperature in these areas is predicted to be 31°C with lows of 22°C to 23°C.
