The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has shared a weather outlook for the period between November 12 and November 18, 2024.
In the forecast published on November 12, Director of Meteorological Services Charles Mugah said rain is expected to continue in several areas, including the Central Highlands, Nairobi, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South Eastern, Coast, and North-Eastern Kenya.
“Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur over some parts of these regions,” KMD said.
There will be warm conditions with daytime temperatures above 30°C likely in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-Western regions.
“Remember to stay cool and hydrated!” said Kenya Met.
According to the forecast, Kenyans should expect cooler nights, with temperatures dropping below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and South-eastern lowlands.
Weather Predictions for Nairobi & its Environs
Counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi will experience rains over a few places in the mornings and showers in the afternoon and nights.
The minimum temperature will be 08°C while the maximum is expected to be 28°C throughout this period.
Turkana & Samburu Forecast
The North-western region, which includes Turkana and Samburu Counties, will experience rains over a few places in the morning, sunny afternoons and chances of showers on November 13.
Between November 14 and November 16, there will be rains in a few places in the morning with showers in the afternoon and the nights being partly cloudy for the last two days.
There will be sunny intervals on November 17 with the nights being partly cloudy.
The temperature will range between 10°C and 37°C during this period.
“This forecast should be used in conjunction with the daily (24-hour) forecast issued by this Department. County specific forecasts are available from the offices of the respective County Directors of Meteorological Services,” KMD said.

Northeastern Counties
Similarly, North-eastern region counties including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will experience rain during the day and showers at night for most of the week.
However, there will be cloudy intervals in the morning of November 17 with partly cloudy nights in the last two days of the week.

The minimum temperature will be 17°C on November 13 but increase to 38°C on November 15.
Southeastern Regions
Kenya Met said South-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties) will also experience rains over a few places in the mornings with showers in the afternoon and nights.
The minimum temperature will be 12°C on November 13 but will rise to 34°C in the remaining four days.

Coastal Counties Weather Forecast
The Coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale will receive showers over several places between November 13 and 15th.
There will be showers in a few places on November 16 with the nights being partly cloudy.
On November 17, there will be sunny intervals in the morning, showers over a few places in the afternoon and cloudy night.
The minimum temperature will be 24°C with a maximum of 34°C at the Coast.
Rift Valle & Lake Victoria Region
There will be sunny intervals in the mornings of November 13th, 15th and 16th with chances of rains in a few places for the other two days.
The afternoons will experience showers and thunderstorms over a few places throughout the week.
The nights will be partly cloudy on November 14th and 17th with showers over a few places on November 15th and 16th and chances of showers on the first day.
Counties in the named regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
