The Kenya Power Limited Company (KPLC) has advertised tenders from interested bidders for the provision of three items, among them bar soap.
In an advert on Tuesday, November 14, Kenya Power, which has been in the news because of frequent nationwide blackouts, is looking for soap suppliers for Northeastern region.
According to the advert, interested tenderpreneurs have between Tuesday, November 14 and Tuesday, November 5 at 10.00a.m to apply.
“Tender documents detailing the requirements of the announced tenders may be obtained from the Kenya Power website from the dates shown,” read the advert in parts.
Further, the Company advertised tenders for the proposed rehabilitation of Mbaraki Transport Workshop Coast Region.
Kenya Power explained that the Workshop tender will start from Tuesday, November 14 and run up to Thursday, December 7 at 10.00a.m.
“Kenya Power invites tender from interested bidders for the supply of tools and equipment for infrastructure development.
The tender will commence on Thursday, November 16 and close on Friday, December 8 at 10.00a.m,” read the advert.

Kenya Power Blackout
Kenya Power has been on the spotlight again after a massive blackout hit most parts of the country on Saturday, November 11 at around 8.30pm.
The Company confirmed the blackout explaining that the technical teams were working to restore the power supply.
“We have lost power supply to parts of the country. Our engineers are working to restore supply to the affected areas.
We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused. An update on restoration progress and the cause of the power outage will be issued later,” said. Kenya Power.
Further, KPLC gave an update at around 10pm that it had restored the power supply to several regions.
JKIA Affected
According to reports by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the outage affected Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In a statement, the Kenya Airports Authority – KAA said JKIA was affected by the blackout even though it did not last for long.
“At approximately 8PM today, JKIA experienced a disruption in power supply due to an outage from the national grid. The airport’s backup generators were activated, with full restoration of power occurring within 8 – 20 mins,” noted KAA in a press statement.

In line with Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen directives, the authority explained that it was yet to complete works on the airport’s backup system
“Our other facilities reinstated their power supply in a considerably shorter duration.
The synchronization of the outstanding backup power supply is scheduled to be completed in the next 30 days in readiness for instant backup support in the event of any power interruption.”
August Blackout
On August 25, the country experienced a power blackout that lasted for hours, affecting JKIA as well.
According to Kenya Power, the outage in various parts of the country was because of a system disturbance.
Afterwards, CS Murkomen made changes in management of JKIA and other airports in the country.
In addition, Murkomen apologized to Kenyans and visitors and promised that the same would not happen again under his watch.
Also, the CS ordered the commissioning of two generators procured two years ago to prevent future blackouts at the facility. Kenya Power is yet to explain to Kenyans what caused the Saturday
