The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) has addressed allegations indicating that the society has failed to honour payments for delivered supplies and work.
Kenya Red Cross, while responding to the claims made against it, termed the reports false, malicious and intended to mislead the public.
“Our attention has been drawn to social media posts claiming that Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) has failed to honour payments for works delivered to KRCS,” the statement clarified.
“These assertions made against Kenya Red Cross Society about the above are false, malicious and not factual, therefore intended to mislead the public.”
KRCS Clarifies on the Allegations
KRCS clarified that the claims relate to a specific tender floated in November 2022 for the publication and delivery of specified books.
According to KRCS, the specific tender was cancelled, and the decision was communicated to all bidders.
As such, the society explained that there was no award, work assignment, contractual agreement or obligations established with any of the bidders.

The statement went on to explain that Anne Joyce Abuga, on behalf of Peer Publishers and Consultants Ltd, petitioned the KRCS requesting for the award to be made in their favour since they had already invested in printing costs in preparation for the tender.
However, KRCS rejected the request as it would have been unfair to other bidders and a breach of their rules and procedures requiring competitive bidding.
KRCS said the decision to reject the request from from the said company attracted insults, threats and attempts to blackmail the organisation and some key staff.
