Kenya has been named the world’s friendliest country in the 2025 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, earning an impressive score of 98.46.
In the report, Condé Nast Traveller praised Kenyans for their warmth, hospitality, and ability to make visitors feel at home.
“As crowned by our readers, Kenya receives the title of world’s friendliest country for 2025, and it’s easy to see why,” the report said.
The publication showed Kenya’s famous safaris, where visitors come face-to-face with the “Big Five,” and also meet guides “who make you feel completely at ease, even when metres away from a prowling lion.”
It added that Nairobi’s energetic nightlife showed the country’s passion for fun, while the coastal region offers a peaceful escape with “five-star resorts along endless stretches of white sand.”
Kenya topped the list ahead of Barbados, Mexico, Bhutan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Mauritius, Chile, Seychelles, and Thailand.

According to the report, Bhutan, Mexico, Barbados, and Kenya rank fourth through first “prioritize happiness, cultural unity, festive traditions, and exceptional safari hospitality, respectively.”
Even the lowest-ranked countries in the top 10 scored above 96 percent, showing just how close the competition was.
Why Kenya Stood Out
Kenya’s win was largely credited to the people behind its tourism sector.
While wildlife remains the country’s biggest draw, Condé Nast Traveler said it’s the guides, hosts, and ordinary citizens who make the difference. Their professionalism and warmth turn once-in-a-lifetime encounters into lasting memories.
The report also pointed to Kenya’s cultural mix, a country that blends city life with calm coastal charm.
Nairobi offers a modern, fast-paced experience, while places like Diani and Malindi provide serene getaways by the ocean.
“Nairobi’s eclectic nightlife scene showcases Kenya’s passion for parties.”
