Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has blasted Azimio leader Raila Odinga over the latter’s plan to hold countrywide mass protest rallies.
Speaking on Sunday, March 5 during a church service in Nairobi’s Roysambu town, Sakaja asked Azimio leader Raila Odinga to engage the government in dialogue instead of calling for mass action.
The governor told Raila that Kenyans are tired of politics adding that key on the agenda of many Kenyans is economic development.

“Kenyans are tired of politics. I’m pleading with fellow politicians to allow Kenyans to have a break. I will not allow the lives and businesses of Nairobians to be endangered because of protests. We must protect business and livelihoods of Kenyans at large through dialogue,” he stated.
Sakaja’s remarks follows Raila’s recent sentiments suggesting he is open for talks despite previous evidence on the contrary.
In an interview with local media, Raila gave three irreducible minimums which he maintains Ruto must meet to create room for negotiations soon.
These he says include the opening of IEBC servers, addressing the increasing cost of living, and immediate halt of the recruitment process of the IEBC commissioners since they can’t be appointed by one side of the government.
“I will not drop the barazas but can consider it on three conditions; First, Ruto must agree to open the server, he must stop recruitment of IEBC commissioners and third he should address the issue of the cost of living in the country,” he noted.
His remarks came amid calls for mass action as he plans to convene public barazas on the way forward.
Even when indicating a willingness to negotiate, the former Prime Minister is adamant about conceding defeat and maintains that he will not acknowledge President William Ruto’s declared win in the August 9 polls. Raila noted that this time he would not forget and move on.
