KTN reporter in the United Kingdom Timothy Otieno was among 400 Kenyans who graced a reception hosted at the Buckingham palace on Tuesday, October 24.
The event, graced by Kenyans in the UK, was held by King Charles III and Queen Camilla ahead of their royal tour to Kenya.
Otieno revealed that it was his second invite to the royal palace to dine and engage with the majesties.
Additionally, he was proud to have received the invitation and to represent Kenyans back at home at the reception.
“So humbled to receive another invite for a second year in a row from Buckingham Palace.
“It was a great honor to get to meet King Charles III & Queen Camilla and represent self and country,” he stated.
Moreover, Commonwealth Scholar Lindah Mbaisi expressed her joy after the encounter with the royals adding that it was a dream come true.

“I came, I saw the King and Queen inside Buckingham Palace, such a dream come true!
“Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla were such great hosts. Had a lovely conversation with them about my studies at Leads University and my work championing for SDGs,” she stated.
Roseline Njogu on Kenyans Meeting the King
According to the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu, the event celebrated the relationship between the two countries.
Njogu commended the King and Queen for honoring Kenyans in the diaspora stating that it was a first of its kind.
Additionally, the event was meant to mark the 60th Anniversary of Kenya’s Independence ahead of their State Visit to Kenya, the first to a Commonwealth country since King Charles III was crowned.
Also Present at the event was Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK Manoah Esipisu.

“This was a huge moment for Kenyans in the UK ahead of the Royal Visit, a moment that attests to Kenya’s significant influence with the UK and our strong bilateral relations,” Esipisu noted.
Notably, the 400 Kenyans and Friends of Kenya who attended the event were drawn from charities active in Kenya, Pharmaceuticals.
Additionally, they were from the Arts and entertainment, education and research, fintech, health and care, hospitality and tourism, investors focused on East Africa and particularly Kenya, and diplomats.
King Charles Visit to Kenya
Their Majesties are scheduled to visit Kenya from October 31to November 3rd at the invitation of President William.
Notably, the King and Queen are scheduled to visit Nairobi City County, Mombasa County and surrounding areas.
At the same time, their Majesties’ programme will reflect the ways in which Kenya and the United Kingdom are working together, to boost mutual prosperity,
Moreover, other matters that will be discussed include how to tackle climate change, promote youth opportunity and employment, advance sustainable development and create a more stable and secure region.
