Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has dismissed Raila Odinga’s claims that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta played a role in the formation of the broad-based coalition government.
Speaking during a press conference on August 14 at the Jubilee Party Headquarters, Kioni emphasized that Uhuru played no part in the Ruto-Raila Cabinet terming the ODM leader’s remarks as “untrue.”
He asserted that Uhuru’s stance was clear that joining a government that has brought chaos and hardship to Kenyans was not an option.
“Uhuru Kenyatta’s position is that you cannot join a government that is bent on causing havoc on Kenyans by killing them, abducting them, removing the social support system that was there, we can also see the wastage of resources through budgeted corruption,” he said.
Kioni further emphasized that this was not a government one would be interested in joining but rather was one that should be removed through constitutional means.

He referenced a letter from Uhuru, dated July 25, in which the former president urged the nation’s leaders to listen to the people amid protests against the Finance Bill.
“Leaders must know that power and authority they have is donated to them by the people,” said Uhuru in his letter.
Additionally, Kioni argued that this letter serves as a reflection of Uhuru’s true views and his disapproval of the current administration.
“Uhuru communicated to Kenya through his letter on the 25 of July on his thinking and his position, what Raila said was really a misleading position,” noted Kioni.
“This is why you should be careful about what Raila said yesterday, I hold his remarks to be untrue and inaccurate.”

Raila revealed that it was Uhuru Kenyatta who pushed him to engage with President William Ruto so as to resolve the issues raised by the Gen Z.
