Kisii University is set to receive 8,047 students in the 2025/2026 academic year after confirmation of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement results, which were announced on July 1.
The number marks a drop compared to the 2024 academic year, when official figures showed that 16,000 students were placed at the institution by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement program.
In an announcement on July 2, 2025, Kisii University confirmed the placement of 8,047 students. Out of the 8,047 students, 4,160 are males, while 3,887 are females.
Kisii among the universities with high placements
Elsewhere, Moi University is set to welcome 6,771 new students placed through the 2025 Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), even as the institution continues to grapple with financial constraints that have affected its operations.
In an official statement, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Kiplagat Kotut congratulated and welcomed the cohort into the institution, assuring them of the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
“Congratulations to the 6,771 students who have been successfully placed at Moi University through the 2025 KUCCPS Placement! This milestone marks the beginning of a transformative academic journey at our university that takes pride in nurturing leaders,” the statement read in part.

According to the acting VC, this number of new first-year students can grow further as the inter-varsity transfer window will soon be opened, increasing the possibility of more students.
Similarly, Chuka University announced that it is set to admit nearly 7,000 freshers in the 2025/2026 academic year.
According to a statement by Chuka University, over 6,300 government-sponsored and hundreds of self-sponsored students are set to join Chuka, marking a sharp rise from last year’s 5,241 placements.
Bachelor of Education (Arts) was the top pick among the prospective students at the university, with a significant increase of students in 2025.
Rongo University, which is set to receive 4,575 students and Kibabii University, which has been allocated a total of 3,537 students, have also shared their excitement as they welcomed the new cohort.

This comes after the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mr. Julius Migos Ogamba, on July 1, announced completion of the placement process for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination cohort and other Form Four leavers to universities and colleges.

Out of the total of 244,563 Kenyan citizens who qualified for degree programmes in the 2024 KCSE examination, 201,695 (83%) of them applied to KUCCPS for placement to various levels.
Among these, a total of 194,372 (80%) have been placed in programmes at various levels.
Overall, KUCCPS has placed a total of 310,502 students in various programmes in universities and colleges this year, so far.
