A resident of Kisii County has filed a petition seeking the county assembly labor committee to dismiss the entire county’s Public Service Board over ghost workers.
The petitioner identified as Benson Atika wants the entire public service Board led by Nancy Nyarangi, who is the chairperson, Jackson Ondiba, Mogusu Momanyi, John Machuka and Judy Omae be probed and sacked for the crimes they committed in violation of the Constitution of Kenya including chapter six of the constitution.
According to the petitioner the issue of ghost workers in the county has led to a bloated county wage bill. He also noted that the Kisii County Public Service Board had gross misconduct in discharging their duties.
He argued that the board members intentionally bypassed the law on recruitment and converted casual employee contracts to permanent and pensionable. He added that the board also promoted employees without properly laid down laws and regulations.

Furthermore, the Kisii County public service board’s chairperson Nancy Nyarangi illegally accepted appointment pending her renewable contract in office.
Nonetheless, while defending his client, lawyer Nyamweya Mogusu objected to the issues raised by the petitioner saying the petition had not proved the source or authentication of documents.
“The petitioner should prove to this court who is the source of the documents and its authenticity,” Said Nyamweya.
Furthermore, senior counsel Paul Nyamodi and Sagana Roger who are both representing the petitioner argued that the documents attached in the petition are relevant to the allegations levelled against the county service board by their client.
