The Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) has cautioned the public against individuals or groups allegedly asking job seekers for money while falsely claiming to offer employment opportunities at the hospital.
In a public notice dated February 4, the national referral facility said it had received reports and allegations that opportunistic individuals were demanding money from job seekers while claiming to have influence over the hospital’s recruitment process.
KUTRRH clarified that it does not authorize, request, or charge for any form of payment or endorsement at any stage of its recruitment or employment processes. The hospital has confirmed that all its hiring is conducted strictly in line with public service regulations, applicable laws, and established institutional policies.
The hospital dismissed claims that job seekers are required to pay up to KSh 850,000 in exchange for employment at the facility, clarifying that no amount of money is required to secure a job at KUTRRH.
KUTRRH noted that it does not use brokers, agents, or intermediaries to recruit staff and that all legitimate job opportunities are advertised through official channels. Applications are processed transparently and competitively, with selection based on merit and compliance with set requirements.
The hospital said it has initiated internal reviews following the allegations to determine whether any individuals misrepresented themselves or violated hospital policies.

This will include disciplinary measures and referral to relevant authorities where necessary. The hospital stated its commitment to ethical governance, transparency, and accountability in all its operations, including recruitment.
KUTRRH is a Level Six national referral hospital established to provide specialised healthcare services, training, and research. As a public institution, it operates under strict governance and oversight frameworks, particularly in human resource management.

Public Advised to Use Official Channels
KUTRRH advised the public to exercise caution and to engage only through official recruitment channels when seeking employment at the facility.
The hospital warned job seekers against individuals claiming to offer jobs in exchange for money, noting that such practices are not authorised and should be treated as fraud.
Members of the public with information relating to suspected misconduct or misrepresentation are encouraged to report the matter through official channels. These include the hospital’s corruption reporting portal on its website, the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, or other appropriate authorities.
The hospital urged job seekers to verify any recruitment information directly with KUTRRH to avoid financial loss and exploitation.
“KUTRRH remains committed to lawful, transparent, and ethical governance and will continue to cooperate with any lawful inquiries.”
