The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has cornered a suspect accused of masquerading as an advocate.
In a statement, LSK President Erick Theuri revealed that the alleged fake lawyer identified as Ralph Edward Nguma Nzwii was on Wednesday, October 25, charged before a Nairobi court.
Moreover, the court declined the suspect’s bail application after the society submitted reasons to deny him bail.
“Another fake lawyer was today charged for among other offenses masquerading as an advocate,” Theuri said.
The court stated that it could not grant Nzwii bail until a comprehensive report on the case was filed.
“On objections by LSK, he was remanded in custody pending pre bail report. Fake lawyers expose clients to serious legal consequences,” he added.

Nzwii was accused of representing clients several times in court including representing a client before the High court.
“On October 24, 2018, at the High Court of Kenya, Commercial and Admiralty Division at Mombasa, within Mombasa County, not being a person qualified as an Advocate,
You represented one Liu Dong Sheng in Miscellaneous Application No. 362 of 2018 China New Era Vs Ocean View Residency Limited and Whintto Architects (K) Limited before the Deputy Registrar of the High Court,” a shared court document stated.
Additionally, LSK put out a notice to the public to help apprehend Nzwii after discovering his tactics.
“This is to notify the general public that he is not an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and his purported practice of law is illegal and should be reported to the Law Society of Kenya.
Or to the nearest police station immediately. The said individual has pending complaints before the Law Society of Kenya as well as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations,” the notice read in part.

LSK on Exposing Fake Lawyer Brian Mwenda
Earlier on October 13, news of a fake lawyer Brian Mwenda went viral after LSK exposed that he had been masquerading as an advocate.
LSK further stated that Mwenda had been presenting himself as a member of the society duping unsuspecting Kenyans.
“The Branch wishes to notify all members of the society and of the public that Brian Mwenda Njagi is not an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, from the Society’s records, nor is he a member of the Branch.
Later, Theuri refuted reports that Brian Mwenda won 26 cases before being unmasked, adding that the report was misleading.
Notably, the case against Brian Mwenda was still ongoing at the time this article was published.
