Nyamira County Police are investigating an incident where a man set his house ablaze, killing himself and two children.
A member of the family, Joshua Omanga, reported that the incident happened in Menyenji Village in Keroka Township.
Moreover, police report show that the deceased, identified as Erick Hasa Makoro, had been diagnosed with mental illness at Masaba Sub County Hospital in Keroka.
Furthermore, the 43-year-old man is said to have had an argument with his wife before setting their house on fire.
It was his wife, Phoebe Nyatichi Omanga, who raised alarm when her husband set their house a blaze.
“We tried to break into the house only to find that the doors were locked from inside. The deceased was in the house with his three children. One of them was rescued,” Omanga noted.
Unfortunately the fire claimed the man’s life, that of their two children and left one child injured.
Bodies of the three have been moved to Gucha mortuary in Keroka.
