A man from Texas has been arrested for allegedly scaling a wall around the Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida owned by President Donald Trump.
The arrested man, identified as Anthony Thomas Reyes, reportedly told police he scaled the wall of the lavish Florida estate because he wanted to “marry President Trump’s 18-year-old granddaughter Kai Madison Trump and “spread the gospel.”
The Palm Beach Police Department was notified about the alleged trespassing just after midnight on Tuesday, according to The Independent.
This was before the officers arrived at the club soon after to find the 23-year-old suspect in Secret Service custody.
Man arrested after scaling Mar-a-Lago Club’s wall
According to a police affidavit, Reyes, after being read his rights, “openly admitted to climbing over the wall that surrounds Mar-a-Lago to gain entry so that he may ‘spread the Gospel to [the president] and marry Kai.”
“Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms,” a Secret Service spokesperson told The Independent. “U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene.”
The spokesperson, however, noted that no Secret Service protectees, like the president, were present at the club at the time of the alleged break-in.
Reyes faces misdemeanour trespassing charges and has pleaded not guilty.
The suspect was taken into custody at 4:10 am, as shown in public Palm Beach jail records, and his bond was set at $50,000 (Ksh6.5 million).

A Palm Beach judge has ordered that Reyes must not contact President Trump, Kai Trump, or any of their family members.
Court records also show that the suspect, a cashier originally from Irving, Texas, had previously attempted to trespass at Mar-a-Lago on New Year’s Eve.

Kai Madison Trump is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr, whom he shares with his ex-wife Vanessa Trump, and is the eldest grandchild of President Trump.
She has been noted as a promising golf talent at the University of Miami by The Palm Beach Post.

The Major Championship is considered a “major” event on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Participants earn more ranking points for a Top 10 finish.
Kai Trump shot a first-round 74 (2-over) and a second-round 80 (8-over) to finish 10-over par and a stroke behind the tournament winner, Jacksonville University women’s golf signee Bretton Mackiewicz from Longwood, Florida.
“Not the result I wanted, but happy with the progress I’ve been making. Let’s get back to work,” the 18-year-old posted to her golf-oriented Instagram page after the event.
The University of Miami women’s golf commit returned to junior competition after struggling in two appearances at American Junior Golf Association invitational events earlier this year.
