The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has invited applications from communications and media students for industrial attachment May – July 2024 program cohort.
In the notice issued on March 23, 2024, the council stated that the program was a partnership with recognized media houses across the country.
The aim, according to the notice, is to allow students to have practical work experience in their field before the graduate.
“The Media Council of Kenya in partnership with recognized media houses runs media industrial attachment program which is geared towards providing journalism/media students with practical work experience before graduation and to prepare them for the job market,” the statement read in part.
Duration of the Industrial Attachment
MCK announced that the program will last for 3 months from May to July 2024.

The students who will be privileged to grab a chance will be offered a monthly stipend every month to facilitate them.
“The attachment lasts for a period of Three (3) Months May July 2024. The Council will provide a monthly stipend for the trainee’s upkeep,” MCK stated.
Eligibility in the MCK program
Students pursuing a degree or diploma in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Digital and Corporate Communication are all eligible for selection.
Applicants should be final year students from a recognized university or college and have a recommendation letter from the university or college stating the period when the placement is required.
Despite that, they are required to have a Valid registration for the Industrial attachment unit at their respective college or university.
Academic transcripts for the current academic year, a valid Student Identification Card and a valid MCK Student Press Card 2024 are also mandatory requirements.
Additionally, the council noted that the selected students will be distributed to recognized media houses across the country.
“Beneficiaries will be placed in recognized media outlets across the country under the following areas of specialization; Print, Broadcast Radio/Television, Technical/ Production and Digital,” the council stated.

Sample journalistic work done before, including online content school project and other support works are also required.

“The Media Council of Kenya does not solicit for payments or recruit through agents/agencies,” the council warned.
