Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga announced that she will vie for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election.
Millicent Omanga Career Background
Omanga, popularly known as “Mama Miradi,” has built a strong entrepreneurial base through Milways Enterprises, a company she founded that specialises in interior décor, furniture, and construction-related supplies.
Her rise to national visibility began with her appointment as a director at KenGen, where she served from 2013 to 2017.
She has contested the Woman Representative position in both 2017 and 2022, the latter on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, and lost on both occasions to Esther Passaris.
In 2023, she was among 50 individuals nominated by President William Ruto to serve as the Interior Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS). The appointments, however, were quashed.
Education Background
Omanga completed her O‑level studies at Mumbi Girls High School in 1999 before securing a sponsored placement at a Medical Training College.
Although she began her studies there, she was eventually forced to withdraw due to financial constraints that made it difficult for her to continue.
Undeterred in her pursuit of education, she later enrolled in a journalism programme at the University of Nairobi, where she successfully completed her undergraduate degree.

Family life
Millicent Omanga, an aspiring Nairobi Woman Representative in the 2027 elections, was born in 1982 in Kiamokama, Kisii County, in a family of seven daughters.
She grew up as the eldest of her siblings, and her family faced challenges after her father’s death. Her father, a mechanic, died in a road accident when she was 17, a tragedy that left her mother solely responsible for raising the family.
She is married to Dr. Francis Nyamiobo, a medical doctor, and together they have two children, a son and a daughter.
Recently, Omanga publicly distanced herself from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). In early February 2026, she broke ranks with the party and aligned herself with opposition figures.
She has also expressed strong support for the ‘Linda Mwananchi Tour’ led by Edwin Sifuna, fuelling speculation about further political shifts, although she has not formally joined a new party.
