Kenya Railways has announced that mid-week trains from Nairobi to Nanyuki will be suspended effective June 21.
They reported that the suspension is temporary.
“We wish to notify the public that we have temporarily suspended the midweek train service to Nanyuki effective Wednesday, June 21, 2023, until further notice,” Kenya Railways said.
Despite the suspension, the Kenya Railways announced that weekend trips will continue as usual.
“The weekend trips where we have a train departing for Nanyuki every Friday at 9:00 am and making the return trip every Sunday at 9:00 am shall continue.” The added.

Moreover, the Nairobi-Nanyuki Railway was reinstated following the restoration of the Rail line by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Its revival brought to life a project which had been dormant for more than two decades.
The Nairobi to Nanyuki line cuts through Nairobi-Thika-Maragua- Sagana-Karatina-Nanyuki.
Furthermore, the Nairobi Commuter Railways was revamped as part of efforts to ease traffic congestion along city roads.
The rehabilitation project which began in 2020 commenced with upgrades to the Nairobi Railway station and those within the neighboring counties of Kiambu and Machakos, among others.
As such, it is seen as one of retire President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successful projects.
