Ministry of Education Announces Auction of Vehicles: How to Bid

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced a public auction of motor vehicles, equipment, and other items.

In a notice on Tuesday, July 9, the ministry said the auction will be conducted in different parts of the country in collaboration with Astorion Auctioneers.

MOE outlined the dates, venues, and descriptions of the auctions for each of the regions.

“The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, in conjunction with Astorion Auctioneers P.O BOX 33340-00600 Nairobi, shall sell by public auction boarded motor vehicles/equipment and other items at the respective regions on specified dates and times,” reads the notice in part.

On July 26, MoE will auction motor vehicles and other items in Eldoret, Western, Nyanza, and Rift Valley.

Afterwards, the Ministry will conduct auctions in MOE Nyeri Offices (Central Kenya), Nairobi, Meru, and Upper Eastern. This will be specifically for motor vehicles and will be conducted on July 31, 2024, at 10:00 am.

On August 2, 2024, at 10:00 am, the ministry will auction motor vehicles in Garissa MOE Offices – Lower Eastern, Northeastern, and Coast.

Ministry Outlines Conditions of Sale

Interested bidders may view the vehicles and boarded equipment/items at the respective stations during working hours to verify all the details for themselves. Additionally, vehicles and all boarded equipment/items are sold “as is where is basis” and the sale is subject to reserve price(s).

“Interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable deposit of 10% of the reserve price as indicated in the catalogue at the Ministry of Education cash office (7th floor) during normal working hours to obtain a bidding number. No bids will be viable without a bidding number as indicated in the catalogue,” the Ministry said.

Interested bidders may obtain further information by visiting the Ministry of Education website www.education.go.ke.

They can proceed to download a detailed disposal document (catalogue) containing details of the items to be auctioned and conditions of sale.

Bidders can view the items at County Director of Education (CDE’s) and Sub-County Director of Education (SCDE’s) Offices and MOE warehouse at Industrial Area Likoni Road supplies branch.

Viewing should be done before the date of the auction as indicated in the Disposal Document (catalogue).

“Where taxes are applicable, they will be borne by the buyers,” MoE said.
