Samuel Ngure, a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) graduate who went missing on June 23, has been found dead at the City Mortuary in Nairobi.
His mother informed the media that the Kenya Red Cross (KRC) team, which had been assisting in the search, located his body at the mortuary.
“I am shaken, heartbroken, and confused. My son has been found dead at the City Mortuary by the Kenya Red Cross Society team that was helping us in the search. His brother went to the facility and confirmed he was the one,” she said.
According to reports, Ngure allegedly suffered fatal head injuries after being hit by a vehicle.
“From what they have observed, Ngure was involved in a fatal crash. He has injuries on the head,” she stated.
The 26-year-old graduated from JKUAT with a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and Biochemistry.
Samuel Ngure went missing on Sunday, June 23, after attending a church service with his family.
He would later excuse himself to handle some business in Nairobi CBD, promising to return in the evening.

At the time of his disappearance, Samuel Ngure was wearing off-white khaki trousers, a light maroon shirt, a black tie, a brown coat, and blue shoes.
Ngure’s father, Bishop Peterson Njau, reported that he had searched for his son at various hospitals in Nairobi and inquired with his friends, but his efforts were unsuccessful.

He also mentioned that Ngure’s phone became unreachable after he went missing.
“Since June 23, we have not set eyes on our son. We searched everywhere-hospitals, police stations, and friends. Our efforts have been in vain,” Njau told the Media at a past interview.
“We are traumatized because his phone is off. Njau always calls whether he has his phone or not. At times, he uses reverse calls or flashbacks. However, this time, he is silent.”
Ngure’s mother mentioned that he had a mild mental condition, Bipolar II, which he had been managing well.

She also noted that Ngure was scheduled for a video shooting contract and an interview at KBC Radio a week after he went missing.
“He has constantly expressed frustration about his joblessness. But that cannot be the cause of his disappearance. He is very passionate about photography and was already taking a short course on it,” she said.
“He was supposed to go for a contract and an interview at KBC Radio on that week he disappeared.”
Increased Cases of Missing Persons Found Dead
During the ongoing anti-government protests, the country has witnessed numerous deaths and disappearances. Police officers have attributed several of these deaths to hit-and-run incidents, some of which are yet to be ascertained.
Similarly, the body of a KCA University student Sammy Cullin Maina, who went missing during anti-tax protests was found on July 9, near Kasarani car wash foot bridge nearly a month after his disappearance.
Traffic police spokesperson Mary Omari confirmed the incident to the media stating that it was a hit and run.
“So, this accident occurred on 9th of June that is last month, along Thika Superhighway, near carwash footbridge area. It was about ten minutes past ten at night, it was a hit and run,” Mary said.
