Nonetheless, the search and rescue was called off until Monday morning when six more bodies were retrieved.
According to Police reports, preliminary investigations had shown that the Modern Coast bus plunged into the river due to brake failure at the bridge.
The Tharaka Nithi Bridge has been marked a black spot due to the high number of accidents that have occurred there.
Furthermore, one of the local police officers reported that they were experiencing challenges while retrieving the bodies as they feared that some of the bodies may have been swept away.
