The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has notified the public of the temporary partial closure of the Nairobi-bound carriageway on A8 Road between FUSO (Simba Colt) and the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni).
In a notice on June 28, KeNHA Director General Eng. K. Ndungu said the highway will be closed from Saturday July 5, 2025, to Saturday July 12, 2025, to facilitate essential highway maintenance works along this section.
During this period of road closure, heavy vehicles of gross weight greater than 3.5 tons and other motorists heading to the Southern Bypass will be diverted to exit the main highway at Kyang’ombe Slip Road through Old Mombasa Road.
Other vehicles will use a single lane that will be provided along the affected section.
“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan herein and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA said.
KeNHA Closes Road for 45 Days
In a separate notice, KeNHA) announced a temporary traffic disruption due to the closure of the Southwestern Loop – A8 to Southern Bypass at the Intersection of A8 (Waiyaki Way), Southern Bypass, and Western Bypass.
KeNHA said the closure is due to scheduled roadworks for the reconstruction of the South-Western Interchange Ramp, loops, and Slip Roads.
The highway will be closed for 45 days from Saturday, June 28, 2025, to Monday, August 11, 2025.

Alternative Routes
Traffic from A8 (Waiyaki Way) to Southern Bypass will be diverted onto E1507 (Kikuyu-Link Road) at Sigona Golf club junction, about 1.5 Km from the Current Junction.
Besides, vehicles from Nakuru to Southern Bypass will use the newly constructed Southeastern Loop and proceed to Southern Bypass using a diversion constructed at the median of the Southern Bypass.

Traffic from the Western Bypass to A8 Waiyaki Way will proceed to use the Muguku Interchange and proceed to use the Kikuyu link road (E1507) joining the A8 Road at Sigona Golf Club junction.
KeNHA advised motorists to follow the traffic management plan, project road signs, and cooperate with police and traffic marshals on site.
