Trouble is mounting for Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, a week after she fell out with MCA’s.

The Governor is facing accusations  of hiring close relatives to plum county positions.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC)  is accusing Mwangaza of nepotism,conflict of interest and irregular  staff hiring.

EACC says the embattled county boss is  violating Chapter Six of the Constitution in her running of county affairs.

In a letter dated October 19, EACC  CEO Twalib Mbarak, says Mwangaza hired her sisters as her aides and her husband as a county youth patron .

One of her sisters serves as the Governor’s personal assistant while the other is  among her security personnel.

EACC is further questioning why the Governor’s spouse has been attending official county functions.

He has been  issuing directives to county workers despite not being a public officer.

In what EACC terms as conflict of interest, the Governor faces the accusation of directing county employees to promote interests of a TV station owned by her husband.

County employees  are also asked to use their social media accounts to promote her administration’s political activities, failure to which they would be shown the door.

The county boss also faces accusations of irregularly recruiting her acting director of communication and cleaners  via a public declaration against the provisions of the law.

Last week,Mwangaza ran into trouble with MCA’s who walked out on her during the state of the county address.

Trouble started when  ward representatives began accusing her of being rude and disrespectful.

They have also accused her of involving her husband in the  running of county affairs while sidelining them.

Mwangaza however hit back at the MCA’s accusing them of extortion and blackmail.

She has also laid blame on Meru County Assembly Speaker Solomon Bundi for instigating divisions between MCA’s and her office.
