Peter Morgan, the lead singer and founder of the widely acclaimed three times Grammy award winning reggae group Morgan Heritage, has passed away at the age of 46.
According to a statement by the Morgan family, Peter passed away on February 25, 2024.
The three times grammy winning roots rock reggae band while announcing the sudden demise of Peter Morgan, implored their fans worldwide to respect their privacy during the mourning period.
“It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage Peter Anthony Morgan has ascended today.
“…We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing…,” reads part of the statement.
Who was Peter Anthony Morgan
Peter was born on July 11th, 1977, in Brooklyn, New York before the family moved back to Jamaica.
He was fathered by legendary Jamaican Reggae singer Denroy Morgan who died in March 2022 following a long battle with cancer.

In 1994, he and seven of his siblings founded Morgan Heritage, but two of them eventually left for other life pursuits.
Peter is best known for classics like “Don’t Haffi Dread To Be Rasta,” “Down By The River,” and “She’s Still Loving Me,” among others. He and his siblings are three-time Grammy winners.
Morgan Heritage Album
The Morgan Heritage Band dropped a new album titled The Homeland on April 21, 2023.
The Homeland which is a testament to their musical growth and evolution, blends roots of reggae, dancehall and hints of other genres.
