Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has called out Mt Kenya politicians and the electorate for complaining over the Kenya Kwanza government.
In a statement on X, Ngunyi argued that Central Kenya should not complain since majority of the Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) are from the tribe.
Further, the analyst explained that on top of the eight CSs from the region, Mt Kenya also has the Attorney General and President William Ruto’s economic advisor David Ndii.
“Dear Kikuyus, out of the 22 cabinet positions, you have 8. If you add the AG and Secretary to the Cabinet, you have 10. Add of course David Ndii sits in cabinet that is 11. What is your problem? Make money not noise,” said Ngunyi.
Mutahi Ngunyi Post Reactions
The post by Ngunyi attracted mixed reactions from a section of Kenyans on X.
Consumers Federation of Kenya (Cofek) Secretary General Stephen Mutoro doubted the statistics posted by Mutahi Ngunyi.
Besides, Mutoro said he doesn’t love reducing Kenyans to imaginary colonial-instigated tribes.
“That said, if you look at Art 152 of the Constitution of Kenya (CoK) appointing CSs, unless you are encouraging that the 8 should become corrupt, CSs are meant to serve,” said Mutoro.
Additionally, a user named Alchemist attacked Ngunyi for promoting tribal politics.
According to Alchemist, Ngunyi’s analysis means something malicious to the rest of the Kenyans.

Also, another user Isaac K argued that the 11 individuals serve their personal interests and don’t represent the Kikuyus.
“The 11 ones represent their own stomachs and their immediate nuclear families not all the Kikuyus,” said Isaac K.
Furthermore, he said the CSs cannot make money in these hard economic times.
Isaac also questioned the efforts Ngunyi had made to help his fellow Kikuyu friends and neighbors.
“Have you built a house or bought a lorry for your neighbor now that you are a well of Kikuyu,” he said.
In addition, George Kipngetich Maiyo stated that the Kikyus are happy and comfortable with Ruto’s leadership.
“The only person making noise is one and only Mutahi Ngunyi,” he said.

CSs from Mount Kenya
The Mount Kenya region holds the powerful Interior and Coordination ministry under CS Kithure Kindiki.
Also, Central Kenya controls the National Treasury docket headed by former Central Bank governor Njuguna Ndung’u.
Also in the list is Public Service CS Moses Kuria, his Lands counterpart Alice Wahome and Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi.
Other cabinet slots held by Kenyans from Cetntral Kenya are Water and Sanitation under Zachariah Njeru and Trade and Investment slots held by Rebecca Miano.
The Mount Kenya region holds other key positions in government including Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome and the AG Justin Muturi.
Ruto’s advisors Economist David Ndii, Monica Juma and Mercy Wanjau also come from the region.
