Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Musalia Mudavadi has broken his silence following the official dissolution of the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party through a gazette notice by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.
The Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Nderitu, in a gazette notice dated March 7, 2025, indicated that the party resolved to dissolve voluntarily following its Special National Delegates Congress held on February 7, 2025.
“Under sections 9 and 34C of the Political Parties Act, Cao 7D and Paragraph 22 of the Second Schedule to the Political Parties Act, it is notified for the information of the general public that ANC at its Special National Delegates Congress of Friday February 7, 2025, resolved to voluntarily dissolve in line with the ANC Party constitution,” read the notice in part.
“Amani National Congress (ANC) stands dissolved.”
In his response, Mudavadi said that the merger of ANC with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has solidified his position as the PCS, ensuring that all terms of the pre-2022 general election agreement remain valid and binding until 2027.

In a statement following the merger, the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary said that Kenya Kwanza leaders reaffirmed the coalition’s unity and commitment to its original mandate, dispelling any speculation about potential shifts in the political landscape.
The coalition extended its appreciation to all stakeholders who facilitated the transition, particularly the supporters of the former ANC party.
“Kenya Kwanza remains intact, strong, and fully dedicated to delivering on its promises to the people of Kenya. This milestone would not have been possible without your unwavering trust and commitment,” the statement reads in part.

As the newly consolidated entity forges ahead, the Kenya Kwanza leadership has emphasized the importance of unity, efficiency, and a shared vision for Kenya’s future.
Mudavadi further said that with the merger now sealed, Kenya Kwanza aims to build on its electoral promises while maintaining internal cohesion and political stability as the country approaches 2027.
UDA merges with ANC
ANC Party’s leadership had downplayed talks of dissolution and subsequent merger with UDA, stating that the party would stand firm in its objectives.
However, its party leader Issa Timamy and UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire on January 17, 2025, announced that the two parties would merge.
“Further to the inclusion of former ANC officials in the leadership of the UDA Party, other staff members will also be incorporated into the secretariat of the party, while structures and organs of the ANC will be integrated into the UDA Party,” Mbarire said in an event held at State House.
