Exact player salaries are rarely made public, but available transfer records and statements from club officials indicate the money involved in the Kenyan football market.
How Much Do Kenyan Footballers Earn in Salaries?
Players in the FKF Premier League can earn between Ksh20,000 and Ksh150,000 per month, depending on their club, experience, and role in the team.
Established players and some of the league’s leading performers can earn between Ksh150,000 and Ksh400,000 per month.
Bonuses, allowances and other payments can increase their total earnings.
Clubs such as Kenya Police FC, Tusker FC, KCB FC, Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards are among the teams with the financial capacity to offer higher salaries.
The amount a player earns also depends on his contract.

A young player making his first-team breakthrough is unlikely to earn the same amount as an established starter or a regular Harambee Stars international.
How Much Are Kenyan Footballers Worth in Transfers?
Young players attracting interest from other clubs can be valued at between Ksh500,000 and Ksh3 million.
Established FKF Premier League players can attract valuations of between Ksh2 million and Ksh8 million, while leading players and regular Harambee Stars internationals can command valuations of Ksh5 million to Ksh20 million.
Players with strong records in the FKF Premier League, CAF competitions and the national team can attract higher figures when foreign clubs enter the market.
However, a player’s valuation does not necessarily mean that amount changes hands.
A player valued at Ksh20 million can still leave for nothing if his contract has expired.
Kenyan Clubs Making Money From Player Transfers
FIFA transfer data shows that Kenyan clubs received $970,000, about Ksh125.5 million, from 45 outgoing international transfers in 2025.
The amount was 36.1 percent higher than the figure recorded in 2024.
Among the reported transfers was Mohammed Bajaber’s move from Kenya Police FC to Simba SC in Tanzania for about Ksh12.9 million.
Alphonce Omija also moved from Gor Mahia to Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in a deal reportedly worth Ksh6.4 million.
These deals show the amounts involved when Kenyan players move to foreign clubs, although transfer fees for many deals are not publicly disclosed.
FIFA’s data also showed that Kenyan clubs did not spend money on international transfer fees in 2025.
All 49 incoming international transfers were completed without a transfer fee.

This means Kenyan clubs were selling players abroad while largely relying on free transfers when recruiting players from outside the country.
Signing Bonuses
A player joining a new club can receive more than his monthly salary.
Signing bonuses, accommodation, transport, match bonuses and other allowances can form part of a player’s contract.
The amounts depend on the club and the individual agreement.
For a player joining as a free agent, a signing bonus can be particularly important because there is no transfer fee involved.
The financial demands of running an FKF Premier League club were highlighted in September 2026 when Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula said the club’s monthly salary bill was more than Ksh3.5 million.
The figure covers the club’s squad rather than an individual player, but it shows the scale of monthly wage commitments required to maintain a competitive top-flight team.
A player’s total earnings can come from his salary, signing bonus, performance bonuses and allowances, while clubs can receive millions of shillings when players under contract are sold to other teams.
