Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Susan Nakhumicha has threatened to revoke and withdraw the licenses of contractors manning leased medical equipment.
Speaking in Kwale county during the launch of community health promoters on Saturday, October 28, Nakhumicha warned the contractors in Msambweni Referral Hospital who failed to manage the equipment well.
Moreover, the CS stated that if the equipment under the care of the contractors will not be operational by Tuesday, October 31, they will have no authority to continue manning them.
“This goes to those who we have given the job of manning these equipment, make sure your equipment is working if it has broken down,” Nakhumicha stated.
“Especially those who do dialysis there are only two out of five equipment that are operational. If that equipment will not be working by Tuesday, October 31, they should pack up their things to allow us to bring other people,” the CS added.

CS Orders Transfer of OCS
Earlier, in July 2023, Nakhumicha received criticism from Kenyans for ordering the transfer of Matisi OCS in Trans Nzoia County.
According to many, the CS did not have authority to make such orders as the mandate was under the Ministry of interior headed by Kithure Kindiki.
“In the government we serve, we are doing something called ‘one-government approach’. It does not require the presence of (Interior CS Kithure Kindiki) to transfer the OSC in this area.
“So, I’m here and I’m giving an order, county commandant if you are here or you can hear me from wherever you are, by tomorrow the Matisi OCS should be gone,” Nakhumicha stated.
