The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested one suspect linked to the gruesome murder of former Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager, the late Willis Onyango Ayieko.
DCI announced in a statement on Tuesday, October 29, that the suspect had been arrested in Nairobi’s Dandora area.
“One suspect linked to the gruesome murder of the late Mr Willis Onyango Ayieko, former Human Resource Manager at Wells Fargo, has been arrested,” the DCI statement read in part.
“The suspect identified as Victor Ouma Okoth was flushed out of his hideout in Nairobi’s Dandora Phase IV last night, where he had rented a house using the proceeds of the heinous crime.”
The suspect is being held at Muthaiga Police Station.
According to the Directorate, the suspect was placed at the scene of the crime through forensic analysis, in the forensic-led investigation being conducted by a joint team of DCI’s Homicide, CRIB and Operations detectives.
In addition, the investigation is ongoing with the team analyzing crucial leads to uncover the whereabouts of other accomplices.

Events Proceeding the Wells Fargo Boss Murder
Media reports on the death of Wells Fargo’s boss indicate that the late Oyieko was among the company team that was probing into the Ksh 94 million theft from a Quickmart supermarket branch.
His close friends, colleagues, and family members told the Daily Nation newspaper that Wills Ayieko was part of the team mandated to conduct a separate probe into the money heist.
In November 2023, it was reported that a team of staffers from Wells Fargo company disappeared with Ksh 94 million while on transit.
Quickmart Supermarket on November 8, 2023, distanced itself from any blame about the heist noting that the money got lost while in the custody of Wells Fargo.

Despite the incident, the supermarket assured its stakeholders that it had insured its operations against such incidents.

Ayieko Goes Missing
The news of Ayieko’s death came in shortly after attending a burial in the North Gem area in Siaya County.
In addition, the news of his death has been in the news headlines for several weeks now as the family and friends continue hoping that the investigations will reveal the involved accomplices in his gruesome murder.
According to media reports, Ayieko went missing on Friday, October 18, and was found dead five days later after reports of him missing had circulated all over.
The bereaved family has expressed hope that the involved parties will be brought to book as they continue to mourn their kin.
“We are working closely with the DCI to find the culprits, and we are following leads that could soon help us establish the motive behind the murder,” one of the family members told the media.
