Govt Goes After Pastor Ng’ang’a Church Land

The commission also demanded mesne profits of up to Ksh1.6 billion for the unlawful use of the listed lands.

Apostle James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Center has suffered a blow after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) listed the land parcel which his church is built on among plots it is seeking to recover.

The Anti-Corruption body is pursuing four lawsuits against former Land Commissioners and private entities for the recovery of five parcels of land within the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

EACC listed the prime land valued at over Ksh1.6 billion which was allegedly grabbed from the Nairobi City Council and Kenya Railways.

According to EACC, the land was illegally transferred or allocated to the defendants without following due process.

In the lawsuit, the commission also demanded mesne profits of up to Ksh1.6 billion for the unlawful use of the listed lands from the defendants.

The defendants include Pastor Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Center Church, Arts 680 Limited, Rubis Energy (formerly Kobil Petroleum), and Lima Limited as defendants in the lawsuits.

The current owner of the land parcel is Neno Evangelism Center Registered Trustees, which is led by the Pastor Ng’ang’a.

According to EACC, the land was part of the parcel that the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) surrendered to the government for the construction of the Post and Telecommunication Headquarters back in 1953.

The Ethics body alleges that the land was fraudulently transferred by the then Commissioner of Lands to Neno Evangelism Center.

Additionally, EACC listed another land parcel valued at Ksh30 million which measures 0.0253 hectares.

The parcel LR. No. 209/12361 is also owned by Pastor Ng’ang’a and was part of the parcel surrendered to the government by KRC in 1960 for the construction of a flyover.

Besides Pastor Nga’ng’a, Arts 680 Limited has been targeted for a 0.2593 hectares piece of land. EACC put the land in question, saying that it was irregularly allocated to Arts 680 Limited in 1994 by the then Commissioner of Lands.

The land valued at Ksh380 million was originally part of a larger parcel that KRC surrendered to the government in 1953 and 1960.

Also, two other parcels currently owned by Rubis Energy, valued at Ksh480 million and Sh240 million were listed by EACC.

The commission filed witness statements and documents to support its claims as it sought the consolidation of the cases to avoid duplication and expedite the hearing.
