A parent in Nakuru is in distress over her son who is sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, following continuous alleged threats and intimidation from his fellow students.
According to the mother, Lynn Franco, her son, who is sitting the KCSE national exams at Anestar Premiere High School, had initially been assaulted by fellow students who were allegedly threatening him. This occurred before he returned home for the August holiday, during which he came back nursing injuries.
“My son, upon returning home, asked me, ‘You have not been informed what transpired?’ Apparently, my son was beaten on a Saturday and Sunday. The boys approached him holding belts in their hands and descended on him,” Lynn revealed in a media interview.
Upon realizing that her son was still in pain following the alleged assault, Lynn took him to a hospital.

“He had some injuries on the chest, and stomach, and also a recurring headache, but after taking him to the hospital, the headache disappeared,” the mother narrated.
Reporting for the third term school calendar, her son had expressed fear that the students would assault him again.
“He told me that his concern was that during the exams, even though the students who assaulted him were suspended, he is not sure about his safety in school since they beat him too much. He was beaten by more than six boys,” the mother said.
Before the national examinations began, the three students who were suspended resumed learning and allegedly started threatening her son again.

This prompted her to report the matter at Moronyo Police Post in Bahati, Nakuru County, after her son called her to inform her about the threats.
The three students were apprehended, and their parents were called to the police station, but the threats did not stop.
“The students’ parents came the following day; they were very arrogant, and the boys were still intimidating my son at the police station. They were telling him that their parents are well connected with some of the officers and that the case would not go anywhere,” Lynn narrated.
