A video purportedly showing former AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ezekiel Owade admitting to involvement in match-fixing has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
In the undated clip, Owade appears to promise to concede two goals in the first half of an unspecified match. He has previously played for several clubs, including Mara Sugar FC, Muhoroni Youth FC, Nakumatt FC, Bidco United, and AFC Leopards.

The footage has generated mixed reactions. One user, Mirage Kitchenware, commented, “Such people should be dealt with the same intensity as those who vandalize stadiums, attack referees, and fight opponents. Those who ruin the game in any way should face severe consequences.”
Another user, Carlo Too, stated, “Instead of focusing on the results, let’s tackle the root causes, one of which is player salaries and the financial capabilities of teams. Some of these players engage in this vice not out of greed but rather for survival.”

William Aballah added, “This argument is misplaced. Sports betting will always prevail. If it’s a losing venture, why do betting firms continue to sponsor local teams? We can only tackle the issue of match-fixing by removing these elements from our clubs.”
Undated Video of Ezekiel Owade Goes Viral
The viral video comes just a day after world football-governing body FIFA relegated Kenya’s Muhoroni Youth FC to the third tier of the domestic league due to match-fixing activities.
