Roots Party leader Professor George Wajackoyah has announced that he will graduate on Saturday in Orlando, Florida, following the approval and publication of his PhD thesis in Law and Public Policy.
In a statement dated Monday, July 7, 2025, Wajackoyah revealed that, in addition to being validated, his doctoral thesis has been published by the Library of Congress in the United States.
“I am very happy to announce that my PhD thesis in Law and Public Policy has been validated and published by the Library of Congress in the United States,” read part of his statement.
According to Wajackoyah, the validation means that U.S. lawmakers can now refer to his work as a legal reference when formulating immigration laws.

The Roots Party leader noted that the thesis took him six years to complete, with delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout the journey.
“I graduate this Saturday in Orlando, Florida. Much thanks to Kelvin Ouma, my researcher, family, and Chair. Kenya has gained and made a mark in the Congressional research arena,” he said.

Following the announcement, Kenyans took to social media to congratulate Wajackoyah on his achievement.

Professor George Wajackoyah is a Kenyan politician, lawyer, priest, and educator. He is widely recognized as the leader of the Roots Party, a political party known for its advocacy for the legalization of bhang in Kenya.
Wajackoyah has built an extensive legal and academic career and has represented high-profile clients through his law firm.
He is an alumnus of St. Peter’s Mumias Boys High School, where he completed his A-levels in 1980.
He later joined the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo to study policing and criminal investigation. After graduating, he joined the police service as a constable and rose to the rank of Inspector.
In 1990, while working in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Wajackoyah was tasked with collecting intelligence related to the death of then Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Robert Ouko.

Following this assignment, he fled the country fearing for his life, eventually settling in the United Kingdom.
While in the UK, Wajackoyah pursued higher education at several universities, earning multiple degrees in law from the University of Wolverhampton, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London, the University of Warwick, Westminster University, and Birkbeck, University of London.
