City lawyer and husband to Kirinyanga Governor Anne Waiguru, Kamotho Waiganjo has raised concern about the low level of confidence among Kenyan men compared to their female counterparts.
Speaking in Thika High School during a prize giving event, Waiganjo said men between age 27 and 35 years lack confidence compared to the ladies.
The lawyer said he came to this conclusion after studying the behavior of men and women within this age bracket when he was part of a Church leadership team.
“In my church, I happened to sit in a leadership team until recently and one of the things that concerned me is the lack of confidence among boys particularly from the age of about 27 to 35,” Waiganjo said.
He explained that he is bothered since the difference in confidence between the men and women was easily noticeable.
“There was an amazing lack of confidence when I compared them to girls of an equivalent age. Since then, it has bothered me where that has come from because it is not as obvious when the boys are younger,” he said.

Waiganjo Applauds Dorcas Rigathi
However, Waiganjo, praised the second lady, Dorcas Rigathi, who was the guest speaker at the prize giving event.
He acknowledged Dorcas’ role in advocating for the rights of the boy child and the work she does in regard to the boy child.
“I really appreciate the attention that you have given to this matter, and it’s been obvious both for you as a mother and as a leader. Your team has spoken to us to ensure that your agenda to make the boy child feel a lot more confident is achieved,” Waiganjo said.
On her side, Pastor Dorcas applauded the government for the ongoing crackdown against illicit brew and drug abuse.
She stated that the society should keep the youth away from drugs and alcohol to secure their future.
“As a champion of the boy child I also take notes of the government’s war against illegal brews. While the government has an obligation to do this, it must take our collective responsibility to keep drugs and alcohol away from our children,” she said.

Cries in Northeastern
Dorcas raised concerns about the devastating impacts of drug abuse in North Easter parts of Kenya.
She revealed that the men in this region use injections that stimulate their sexual desires leading to preventable rape cases.
“Right now, injectables are being brought from the North for our children to use and they are unable to control their sexual urges and they are gang raping women in Northeastern,” Dorcas said.
She said there are drug barons who are out to destroy the youth by selling drugs and alcohol.
The second lady urged the society to mentor the boy child and re-examine the stage and the status of the boy child.
“We have a moral obligation and a duty to bring up our children in the right way by teaching them good ethics, work and family values,” she said.
