The Kenya Transporters Association (KTA) Limited on Friday, November 1 announced implementation of the new minimum wage law for heavy commercial vehicle drivers in Kenya.
In a notice, the association urged all transporters to strictly comply with the government’s minimum wage regulations.
“The Kenya Transporters Association Limited (KTA) calls on all transporters to adhere to the government’s minimum wage laws.
We would like to remind you that paying below the minimum wage is both illegal and unethical. It not only violates the rights and well-being of our valuable transport workforce but also jeopardizes the stability of our industry.
KTA on new minimum wage for commercial vehicles
“By complying with these laws, you uphold the integrity of your company and avoid potential fines and legal repercussions,” part of the notice read.
“As per the Regulations of Wages (General) (Amendment) Order 2024, the minimum Monthly Gross Pay (Basic pay as per the order plus 15% House Allowance) for Heavy Commercial Vehicle Drivers with effect from 1st November 2024 is tabulated below,” the notice added.

According to the Transporters Association Limited Counties of Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu and Eldoret Cities will have to pay a minimum wage of Ksh 41, 815.

Meanwhile, all former Municipalities and Town Councils of Mavoko, Ruru and Limuru will have to pay Ksh 39,350 while other areas will have to pay a minimum wage of Ksh 36, 895.
Transporters Association assures workers of fairness
At the same time, The Kenya Transporters Association (KTA) assured workers in the Transporters Association of its commitment to fostering a fair and just road transport industry.
“We are dedicated to creating a thriving sector that benefits both transporters and their employees by respecting the rights of workers,” stated the notice.
