Wangui Ngirici has now said she will challenge Anne Waiguru’s win in the recently concluded Kirinyaga gubernatorial race.
Ngirici who was vying on an Independent ticket said that the gubernatorial elections were marred with irregularities.
She further added that despite the challenges, the will of the people shall prevail.
Moreover, the outgoing woman representative made the announcement while speaking on Sunday, August 14 at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Kerugoya.
In addition, Ngirici stated that she has sufficient evidence to prove there was rigging in favor of Waiguru.
The legislator further asked her supporters not to feel sorry for her. She also expressed hope that God’s justice will be on her side.
Nonetheless, the contest between Waiguru and Ngirici for governor of Kirinyaga was contentious, with both parties leveling claims of rigging.
Moreover, claims from both parties led IEBC to conduct a second count of votes in Gichugu constituency.
Similarly, Ngirici’s running mate Eliud Wanjao reiterated her sentiments saying they are optimistic that the court’s decision will favor them.

Furthermore, Wanjao stated that in some polling stations some votes were added to favor their opponents, a situation he claimed was not in alignment with the voter turn-out.
Nonetheless, Waiguru who was contesting on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, was last week declared as the duly elected governor after trouncing Ngirici with 113,088 votes against 105,677
