The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced plans to roll out the electronic motor vehicle registration certificate to replace the current paper-based certificate of registration.
According to the Authority, transitioning from a logbook to an e-logbook will ensure the provision of efficient, paperless, and citizen-centered services.
Further, the Authority noted that the electronic registration certificate is more secure and convenient than the current paper-based vehicle registration certificate.
“As a part of the ongoing transformation, the Authority is pleased to announce of plans to replace the current paper-based Certificate of Registration (Logbook) with a secure, convenient digital version (eLogbook). This transition marks a major milestone in the Authority’s commitment to providing efficient, paperless, and citizen -centered services,” part of the NTSA public notice read.
The new eLogbook will be integrated into all motor vehicle registration processes, including changes recently initiated by the Authority.
NTSA emphasized that the e-logbook will be integrated into the new vehicle registration, transfer of ownership, change of inspection on vehicle particulars, and other vehicle-related transactions.
Furthermore, vehicle owners will be able to access, view, download, and verify their digital logbooks on the e0citizen platform at any time.

Benefits of eLogbook
NTSA has noted that the rollout of the e-Logbook will ensure that the process is faster and result in a significant reduction in administrative delays.
In addition, the e-logbooks will enhance security, reducing risks of document forgery, loss, and tampering through advanced digital safeguards.
The eLogbook will provide easier online access for vehicle owners, insurance companies, and other relevant stakeholders, according to the Authority.
Additionally, the authority argues that the e-logbooks will enhance data management by providing real-time, accurate records that will support traffic enforcement.
The Authority will be able to easily monitor insurance verification and road safety initiatives through the e-logbook.
Service delivery by the Authority will be reduced from the average of 3 to 7 days to, in other instances, instant or same-day service delivery when the eLogbook is rolled out.
However, the Authority stated that before the official rollout, virtual training sessions and demonstrations will be held to help all owners familiarize themselves with the enhanced service processes of the e-citizen platform.
