The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced that it will be shutting down its Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal.
In a notice on Wednesday, December 13, the authority stated that the platform will be shut down from Friday, December 29, 2023 (midnight) to Monday, January 1, 2024 (midnight).
Subsequently, it asked motorists to ensure that they validate their E-Citizen credentials and complete their pending transactions on TIMS by Friday, December 15, to avoid any inconveniences.
According to the statement, the move will ensure smooth transition to the eCitizen platform as the authority makes changes to its services.
“All clients with pending transactions on TIMS platform are therefore required to complete their applications by Friday 15th December 2023 to avoid any inconveniences,” stated NTSA.

NTSA Moves all Services to E-Citizen
Further, the authority explained that it was moving its services to E-Citizen to implement the directive given to all government service providers.
It therefore called on motorists and clients to validate their E-Citizen credentials as only E-Citizen login credentials, username and password, will be used to access NTSA services from Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
“This move aims to centralize access to service through a unified portal, thereby enhancing service delivery to motor vehicle owners and stakeholders.
“To facilitate a smooth transition, the Authority requires all NTSA clients including motor vehicle owners, financial institutions, insurance companies, motor/motorcycle dealers, corporate/companies, Embassies, Missions, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), among other entities to validate their E-Citizen accounts,” the notice read in part.

Also, the Authority added that it will limit transactions on all NTSA services during the period. All NTSA online service access will be integrated on the E-Citizen platform.
Directive to Organizations on Account Validation
On the other hand, NTSA directed individuals assigned to make transactions on behalf of organizations to login to their e Citizen accounts and add the organization using the KRA PIN numbers.
“The authority requires persons assigned to transact on behalf of organizations to login to their e Citizen account and add the specific organization using KRA PIN Numbers.
“This is a critical exercise to ensure access to all NTSA services within the platform,” added the notice.
Additionally, NTSA indicated that it had put plans in place to undertake virtual trainings and demonstrations of the new service provisions from 18th to 22nd December 2023.
The registration process is not charged and will be available on the NTSA portal.
