The National Youth Service has announced a mass auction for unserviceable motor vehicles and assorted parts.
In an advert on Tuesday, August 15, NYS put on sale plant equipment, scraps, old tyres and tubes, electronics, and other items in various field stations.
In addition, the service revealed that the auction will start on August 29 to September 15 in various locations across the country.
Furthermore, the auctions will take place in Nairobi, Nakuru, Homabay, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, Machakos, Samburu, Lamu, Machakos, Mombasa, Taita Taveta, and Tana River.
According to NYS, auctions in different fields will be carried out on different dates as indicated in the auction notice.
Moreover, the appointed auctioneer is Trenad Auctioneers of P.O. Box 12853-00100, Nairobi.

Viewing of the items shall be from August 29 to September 15 from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. during normal working hours at the field offices.
Auction deposit
The NYS also asked Interested bidders for motor vehicles to pay a deposit of Kshs.10,000 per lot, while those for machinery and plant equipment will pay a deposit in cash of Kshs.20,000.00 for scrap shall be Kshs.50,000 for miscellaneous item shall be Kshs.5,000.
Moreover, the notice stated that all the deposits made for the items will be refunded to unsuccessful bidders and shall form part of the purchase price for successful bidders thereafter.
The cash deposit and purchase price according to the notice will be deposited in the NYS Account KCB A/C NO. 1262609798, Name: National Youth Service, Branch: Moi Avenue. All bidders who have paid will be required to provide the bank slip for receipt.
The National Youth Service, through the notice, also stated that all deposit slips should be forwarded to the respective Field offices and an MR receipt issued for each lot.
Bidding Procedure
However, the notice stated that there shall be no bidding without a bidding number that shall be issued upon production of an official MR receipt.
Bidders who will be successful in their bids will be required to pay 25% of the purchase price within 24 hours and the balance paid within 14 days in the National Youth Service Account provided.
Payment for the deposit should be made before 18/09/2023 for bidding purposes according to the NYS notice.
The NYS through the notice also provided the catalogue containing the details of the items to be auctioned.

The catalogue can be downloaded be downloaded from the NYS website www.nys.go.ke or Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP) free of charge.
In addition, the National Youth service asked all interested bidders to verify the details as they are not warranted by NYS or the auctioneers.
