Other parts of the country are experiencing floods

Residents along the routes have also raised concerns about potential public health risks, noting that such conditions could foster the outbreak of waterborne diseases.
“This situation exposes the glaring inadequacies of the existing poor drainage system, leading to widespread flooding across the roads,” a resident complained.
Effects of the heavy rains in other parts of the country
The ongoing rains have also wreaked havoc in several estates in Nairobi, leaving most roads flooded, muddied and impassable.
Residents say that the rain has led to flooding of important roads in the estates, used to access shops, schools, hospitals or major bus stops.
Estates like Kayole, Dandora, Makadara, Soweto, Pipeline, Mukuru Kwa Njenga, sections of Imara Daima, Donholm, Umoja, Kariobangi, Tassia and many others have been adversely affected by the heavy rain and mud.

Adelle Muthoni, a resident of Tassia, said she is often forced to carry an extra pair of shoes when going to work.
“The small road from my house to the bus stop is full of mud and pools of dirty water. My office shoes will get wet, and soiled, and it can be embarrassing carrying all that matope to town, and the office,” said Adelle.
Having been warned earlier by the Kenya Met Department, there is a need for Kenyans to take the possible safety precautions for their own safety as the rains still continue.
