In a heartbreaking revelation, city pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about the tragic demise of his 24-year-old sister, Starlet Wahu.
The vibrant socialite’s life took a devastating turn when her lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood at an Airbnb in South B.
This was during a night of revelry with the now identified prime suspect, 34-year-old John Matara.
As the detail of the horrifying incident unfolded, Pastor Kanyari shared the family shock and grief revealing that they had never encountered the man caught on CCTV footages before the tragedy struck.
“We had not seen the man before. We learned about him after her death. This is so tragic for us, the family and her friends. May her soul rest in peace” said the city pastor.

Wahu Called But I did Not Receive
While speaking at his church, Kanyari detailed how his sister was brutally murdered.
He noted that the 24-year-old was stabbed severally leading to her demise.
“Alidungwa visu kama tatu hivi. My only sister ambaye ameishi America miaka yake yote. A very pretty girl, msichana mzuri amebarikiwa aliuawa,” Kanyari stated.
This loosely translates to “She was stabbed three times, my sister who has lived in America was killed.”
According to the pastor, Wahu met the man who is the prime suspect behind her murder on Facebook.
The man then invited her for drinks to which she accepted unknowing of what would befall her.
“Ni ukweli sister yangu alipata mwanaume na yule mwanaume akamdate katika mitandao na wakapendania huko kwa Facebook. Mwanaume akamwambia aende wakule na wakunywe na akamwambia yeye ni tajiri sana,” he noted.
Furthermore, Kanyari revealed that Wahu tried calling him in the middle of the night but he did not pick up.
He noted that the man had asked Wahu for Ksh 500,000 to which she refused a move that led the man to stab her on the neck and leg.
“Ilipofika saa nane ya usiku, sister yangu akanipigia lakini sikushika, kwa hivyo, saa tisa akaanza kukua threatened na yule mwanaume. Akamuitisha elfu mia tano. Sister yangu akakua resistant, yule mwanaume akamdunga kisu ya shingo na mguu. Akamwambia apigie watu wenu watume pesa, ikawa amem-hijack,” he narrated.
This loosely translates to “My sister called me at 2am but I did not receive the call, as such the man threatened her, asking for Ksh 500,000 to which she refused and got stabbed on the neck and leg.”
Pastor Kanyari said that his sister’s murderer locked her in the house and left her for dead.
Pastor Kanyari on His Last Encounter with Wahu
Still overwhelmed with much sorrow, pastor Kanyara recalled the last time she saw her sister was on New Year’s Eve at a family gathering.
“I am heartbroken, she was doing so well in life. We last met on Christmas and on December 31, we spent time together at home, ” he shared.

Wahu’s Private farewell
Wahu’s final private farewell took place on Saturday, January 6, at her parent’s home in Kamulu, Nairobi County with close friends and relatives in attendance.
Pastor Kanyari said they decided to bury her as soon as possible to avoid media interference in their time of mourning.
The ceremony marked the end of a life cut short, with reports indicating that she succumbed to stab wounds on her head and right thigh during the harrowing incident.
Meanwhile, John Matara is being detained in police custody as investigations into the dreadful, Thursday incident continue.
The community remains gripped by the aftermath of the shocking event, as they seek answers and justice for the untimely departure of a young and promising life.
