Police officers shot dead two gunmen linked to the murder of a security officer who was escorting KCSE exams in Siaya.
According to an official police report, the officers were trailing the suspects who were believed to be from Somalia.
Copies of the Quran and prayer mats were recovered from their hideout.
Also, two firearms suspected to be stolen from the officers on Monday were recovered.
Cleti Kimaiyo, the Siaya County Commander confirmed the incident and added that there is another suspect who was arrested and taken to police custody.
Also, it is alleged that the suspects had returned to Kenya from Somalia.
The Hunt for the Suspects
Notably, police launched investigations in Busia after a resident reported that he spotted the suspects wielding guns.
“NPS Officers have recovered the two firearms lost this week where one NPS Officer was killed and the other seriously injured while escorting KCSE papers to Mahero Secondary School in Siaya County.”

A team of detectives was sent from Nairobi to the Kenya-Uganda border to back up those on the ground in the hunt for a gang that killed a cop on Wednesday.
This was after the three men believed to have been behind the incident in Siaya were spotted in a village in neighboring Busia County.
Witnesses told police the three were in gumboots-two black and one white.
The strangers pausing as hawkers, were found relaxed shielding themselves from the heavy rains, in a one of the houses in the region.
According to police, the owner of the house demanded to see what the trio was carrying in a sack and some small bag they had but they refused and stopped him from reaching them.
He tried to call the area assistant chief, but the men snatched his phone.

Top security officers from Bunyala visited the scene as part of the probe.
The area was cordoned off in search of the said firearms which are strongly believed to have been robbed in the incident from the neighboring county of Siaya.
“The MP5 and AK47 Rifle were recovered at Hawinga from the house of Sheikh Rashid who escaped the police dragnet, while two suspects were fatally wounded. The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to serve and to protect,” said part of a police report.
Monday Incident
What’s more, the suspects are said to have shot police officers in the early hours of Monday, November 20 as they were escorting KCSE Papers to Mahero secondary School.
Police stated that two knives and a black dustcoat were recovered at the scene of the murder.
However, the motive of the incident has not yet been unraveled.
